Sale Report: 25 April 2012 Primestock

At Mitchell’s Auction on Wednesday 25th April prime cattle met a similar trade to the previous week, taking quality into account, trade was as expected.  Top price was 228.5p/kg (£1,249.90) for a Limousin Cross heifer shown by G W Whitfield & Sons, Stowbank, purchased by Mark Lindsay, Butcher of Cockermouth.  Bulls sold well and
maintained the high rates of recent sales.
Cows were cheaper on the week following the national trend.

A mixed quality show of hoggs were forward, and with the usual ring of buyers present a steady trade prevailed.  The demand and prices followed the recent national trend to an overall average of 202p/kg.
