<p>The winner of the Jonny Skelton Memorial Trophy was a nine months old, British Blue cross heifer, from RW &amp; JH Emmott Emmott, Wythop Hall, which sold for £1200 to L Skelton &amp; Son.  Reserve Champion, also from Robert and Judith Emmott, was a Limousin cross bullock selling for £1250 to David Anderson.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Annual Spring Show &amp; Sale of Breeding Cattle was held on Friday 10<sup>th</sup> May 2013. The recent bad weather and late turnout was forgotten with a great entry of 112 Beef Breeding cattle and 900 head of Breeding sheep forward for sale meeting a good trade with a full ringside looking to buy. The day was sponsored by Robinson &amp; Co Accountants and our judges were Harold Keast of Creaditon, Devon and Frank Thomlinson of Powe Croft, Wigton</p>
<p>In the cattle show Harold Keast put J Watson of Outgang Farm’s 1<sup>st</sup> prize Limousin cow and bull calf as Champions the unit later sold for the sales top price of £1950. The reserve champion was the second prize cow and heifer calf British Blue’s from TG O’Fee, Nook Farm they sold for £1800. The cattle section included the dispersal sale of John &amp; Betty Watson of Outgang Farm, Branthwaite whose consignment of 14 cow and calf units averaged £1445.71.</p>

<p>A good quality show of 900 sheep sold well up to expectations. The judge Frank Thomlinson awarded the David Westgarth Perpetual Trophy to M/s Winter of Clickham Farm for their 1<sup>st </sup>prize pen of Mule hoggs with single Suffolk cross lambs . The pen later sold for £120 per life. The reserve championship was awarded to K &amp;  C Wilson, Wood Farm for their pen of Texel cross hoggs with single Texel lambs which sold for £100 per life.</p>

<p>The Spring Show of Prime Lambs was won by G Wilkinson, Arkleby House with a Texel, selling for the highest price of the day, £178.50 (343p/kg) and bought by Wilson’s Butchers, Egremont.  Second was P &amp; J Mitchinson, Rhyola Meadow, and third RB Jackson, Croft House.  Ninety one prime lambs sold to an average of 254p/kg.</p>

<p>The usual ring of buyers was more cautious, but generally the prices of the last sale were maintained, with most sellers satisfied with the trade.</p>
<p>Top price on the day was £1315 paid for a Limousin Cross bullock shown by I &amp; CL Richardson Greenlands, heifers sold to £1285 for a Limousin shown by DH Dimond, Harrow Head.</p>
